Under 11s

22nd November Tor away to Crewkerne

Tor U11’s
Tor showed a lot of character regardless of losing both their games to a well drilled Crewkerne side. Tor started strong with a great run by Sam and brilliant support work from Bennett and Luke but the visitors managed to regain possession and went on to score four tries unanswered.
Tor then hit back after some good tackling from Oscar and good scrum work from Bethsny that  saw Olly cross the line for his first try of the day. The home team scored again but Tor managed to scrape another through Olly again thanks to some lovely build up play from Ronnie and Amiele.
The second half was more positive for Tor as they scored first again through Olly. Liam then had a blistering run before being stopped,on the line.
Olly bagged his fourth but the hosts managed to reply  to win the first game 7-5. The second game was much better from Tor, they created  more opportunities to score and were unlucky not to build up a strong lead. Olly, Harvey and Sam all fell just short with Liam  being stopped after another great run. Bethany, Harvey and Oscar all put in good tackles and with fantastic support from Billy saw Ronnie run in for a try. It was then Billys turn to score after a great pick up to - his first try in tor colours! Luke was then just seen in to touch as he to went close to the line as an Improving  Tor fell just short -but lots of  positive play to build on in training next week!

15th November

Tor U11’s

Tor under 11’s managed to bag their second win of the season at Bridgwater winning 7 tries to 4. Tor opened scoring after Olly converted Luke's run. Bridgwater replied regardless of good defence from Oscar, Bethany, Theodore and Ben. Good runs from Sam and brilliant passing from Ethan saw Michael get a run but he fell just short of the line before Harvey crossed to score. Bridgwater scored the next three try’s as again they beat the strong defence of Elijah and Archie. Tor then saw the next five try’s go their way. Some more solid running and passing from the team saw Harvey cross for his second before Olly crossed for his second and third. Harvey then bagged his third before Olly bagged his fourth of the day. Tor nearly scored an eighth after a good kick from Luke was chased down by Harvey but he couldn’t quite hold on to it.

 11th October 2015 Tor Vs Cheddar  U11S @ TOR

Tor United U11s

Tor under 11's started off their campaign at home against cheddar, fielding two mixed ability teams with a number of new faces in the squad. The first Tor team, Tor United, started the day’s proceedings off against cheddar but sadly went a score down early through a very impressive cheddar move regardless of some fantastic tackles from Ronnie and Theodore. Tor responded after the restart and after some good passing they broke the Cheddar defensive lines through runs from Luke and Ethan but just  failed to get the points on the board, it wouldn’t be long before the  first try of their season was scored after some great play at the back of a scrum, a surging run from Ronnie, supported by Ben and Theodore saw the ball come out to Tor newbie Michael who crossed the white wash to bag his first try of the day levelling  the score at 1 apiece. Strong defence from Archie and Amiele was enough to hold off the initial cheddar counter attack but the visitors managed to cross for their second before the half time whistle taking them 2-1 up for the break, the deficit didn't damper Tor spirits as from the restart  they hit back with some great attacking play from substitutes Sam and Nuno before the second Tor debutant , Archie, crossed the line to level the scores at 2 apiece. Tor then went ahead for the first time of the day through Sam after a fantastic darting run. Tor managed to hold a strong defensive line which kept Cheddar out yet the visitors weren't going to be stopped that easily and ran in their third try of the game and levelled the score up 3 all. But it was Tor who finished the scoring off thanks to a second Michael try which saw them lead 4-3 before Luke booted the ball out to see the team win the first game of the season.

Tor Tigers U11s

Tor second team of the day, Tor Tigers, sadly couldn't quite match their counterparts  as a very close and hard-fought game ended in narrow defeat . The game got off to a fantastic start which saw a lot of brilliant tackles and defence from both teams, highlights being big hits from Bethany and Ethan that stopped any chance of a Cheddar opener.

Cheddar hit back with a strong defence of their own stopping Sam and Theodore from scoring. The defensive work was kept up from both teams again thanks to Bennett and Harvey for Tor before Harvey managed to break the deadlock and became the third new player in the under 11 squad to score for Tor aided by a wicked side step. This stirred up Cheddar who hit back immediately to level the scores. Tor kept more attacks at bay thanks to two fantastic tackles on the try line from Sam which saw him deny the guests from scoring.

Tor then took the lead again as Harvey used his sidestep to cross the line for his second try. Some good defence from Ethan, Bethany and Bennett denied any late first half hope for the visitors and saw Tor lead 2-1 at the break. Cheddar equalised from the restart and then took the lead thanks to a great kick which saw the same player chase his kick and score. This seemed to get Tors backs up! They edged ever closer to the line thanks to a great run from Oscar which saw him dart pass four players before being stopped. Sam and Luke were both also denied after good runs before Oscar was stopped for a second time just in front of the whitewash. The Cheddar defence managed to hold on right till the last play to see them win 3 tries to 2.

Tor coaches Josh and Dean were pleased with how both Tor teams performed and look forward to see how they improve for the next game.

U10&11 training - 15.03.2015
Another great turn out at training today on a chilly morning. Great to see Bennett return and two more new faces joined in with the fun today as the squad welcomed Charlie and Elijah. Charlie's all round game was brilliant, a natural sportsman and even the coaches wouldn't want to be on the end of one of Elijah's tackles!!

Player of the week went to Sam so a big well done to him. His focus and effort in training over the last few weeks has not gone unnoticed and he does it all with a smile on his face!!

Also a massive well done to the whole squad who have welcomed the new faces and really embraced the values of the club. It's never easy in a new environment and you have all gone out of your way to support, help and involve these guys, you are all a credit to the club.

Lastly, we all hope Dean smells a bit better now after his swim in the ditch!!

Look forward to training next week already!!

Rob, Josh and Dean

"Great to see so many faces for 10s/11s training again on Sunday, both old and new. Hope Bennet enjoyed his first taste of Rugby at Tor, we'd love to see you back again this Sunday and great to see Bethany back who's great effort in training saw her pick up the player of the week award, a really hard decision to make as everyone trained at 110% and had a great time!

Thanks again to Malc for volunteering his morning and helping provide a great session, they all loved it as always!!

Good luck to all those competing in the tag tournament at Tor RFC, go and have lots of fun!! The coaches from Tor will be there to support and cheer you all on!

Rob, Josh and Dean"
